DETAILS:
Dogs:
- Rabies - in most states, the Rabies vaccines are required to be given to dogs over 3-4 months of age and every 3 years. Rabies vaccines are given to protect people, not dogs. Because rabies is typically a fatal disease after the onset of symptoms, the goal is to protect the public from contracting rabies.
- DHLP is a five-way vaccine that includes viral diseases canine distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus, and bacterial infection leptospirosis. Distemper is an airborne virus that is also transmitted through bodily fluids and attacks the intestinal and respiratory tracts, as well as the central nervous system.
- Bordetella - The bordetella vaccine is given to both puppies and adult dogs. This vaccine helps to ward off a frequent illness that is known as canine cough. Canine cough is easily spread from one dog to another and is highly contagious. In healthy adult dogs, the condition is similar to common cold in humans. NOTE: The bordetella vaccine should be delivered not less than 3 days prior to arrival. A Paws Pet Resort Owner or Manager MUST approve the acceptance of dog receiving a "last minute" bordetella vaccine.'
- Negative fecal test within past 12 months: We require at least an Ova & Parasite test (OP), and prefer an Ova, Parasite, and Giardia (OPG) test. Please refer to the fecal results sheet for more information.
- Current Dog Town License (paper copy): Required by Connecticut state law. If their primary residence is not located in Connecticut, we or the customer must provide proof that the area they live in does not mandate a dog license. An example can be a state website that says this, or verbal confirmation by a town clerk.
Note: Rabies and Dog Town License must be uploaded to client's file on Gingr.
RECOMMENDED
Canine Influenza causes mild respiratory disease and is associated with outbreaks in densely housed dogs or those with frequent connections to other dogs. The vaccination for both common strains is recommended.
- H3N2
- H3N8
Cats:
- Rabies - Rabies vaccines are given to protect people, not cats. Because rabies is typically a fatal disease after the onset of symptoms, the goal is to protect the public from contracting rabies.
- Feline Distemper Combo (FVRCP) - three-way vaccine, is an important core vaccine that all cats should be must up to date on. It's made up of three separate vaccinations, FVR (Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis), Calici, and Panleukopenia.
