Handling Stool
Operating Procedure
Picking up stool
- Stool must be picked up and disposed of immediately. Even if the poop is not from the pet you were walking, it is imperative to remove the feces ASAP.
- Poop must be disposed in one of the garbage-bag-lined galvanized can with a tight fitting lid. The lid MUST remain on the can at all times to prevent dogs and flies from accessing it.
- Stool can contain viruses, bacteria, parasites, diseases like Giardia, and more. Rememeber, saftey first!
- Any abnormal stool (blood, diarrhea, loose, mucus, and stool with foreign bodies in it) should be brought to the attention of a manager immediately.
- There should always be one poop scoop set, a bucket, and steel can per fenced-in area.
- If any poop scoops need to be replaced, please let a manager know.
- Please see "Cleaning Up Diarrhea and/or Vomit" Precedure if a pet makes a mess in their room.
