Cleaning Up Diarrhea and/or Vomit

Operating Procedure


 

This procedure is designed to ensure that "messes" are cleaned up in a timely manner and in manner that effectively disinfects and kills any parasites that may have been contained Guest's diarrhea or vomit.

 

If the "mess" is small,

Retrieve the cleaning cart.  Verify that the cart is stocked with:

  1. 5-10 clean/unused cleaning towels
  2. Latex gloves
  3. Handheld spray bottle of disinfectant
  4. Deck squeegee
  5. Proceed to the Soiled Room

  6. Escort the guest to a temporary holding area.
  7. Bring dog to grooming room if the dog needs a clean-up bath, make sure to check the dog head to tail and smell them! 

  8. Place gloves on your hands.
  9. Use towels to remove the feces/vomit.  You can use disinfectant from the handheld spray bottle to dilute if necessary.

    1. If solid feces needs to be removed, use a poop scooper to remove and discard into an "poop bucket".

     

  10. Spray the area with disinfectant. 
  11. After the disinfectant has been sitting on the area for 10 minutes,
  12. Thoroughly dry the area with a towel.
  13. Place the Guest back into the room.
  14. Make sure door to the room is securely shut.

If the "mess" is significant

EAST, WEST, IN-BETWEEN, OR OUTSIDE WEST:

  • Proceed to the Soiled Room

  • Escort the guest to a temporary holding area.
  • Bring dog to grooming room if the dog needs a clean-up bath, make sure to check the dog head to tail and smell them! 

  • Remove all beds, bowls, toys, etc., from the floor. (all customer belongings should be labeled so they go back to the correct dog. If it is not labeled, please do so.) 

  • If anything is dirty, wet, or smelly; bring it to the laundry room (make sure to log any customer belongings on the guest laundry sheet). All items must be returned to the customer clean.

  • Scoop any spilled food or solid waste. You must mark the run card for any elimination in their room and record food and water intake.

  • Foam the floor, then walls, doors, floors and resting bench. Be sure to do the panel next to the door and the base of the bars and let sit for 10 minutes. 

  • Rinse the walls first, top to bottom, rinse floor from front to back, top of resting bench, flip up and rinse bottom of resting bench. While rinsing, have the hose in one hand and a scrub brush in the other to tackle any remaining grime. Lastly, flush the drain towards the drain bucket until clean. Leave benches up to allow them to drip dry until you are done.

  • Squeegee the doors; two swipes from top to bottom

  • Squeegee the bedroom from front to back, two swipes and gently put down the bench.

  • Put down clean water bowl

  • If the dog had belongings, put those back in with them now (give out our beds as needed to non chewers only).

  • Bring the dog back into their room and securely shut the door.

NORTH, LUXURIES, MINIS, CAT ROOMS:
